9 Ways to Makeover With Bedspreads

Hi, I am so glad that you decided to drop by for a visit.

This is a special post.  I would like to introduce Kathy.

"Hi, My name is Kathy and I am proud to declare that I am a crafto-holic. Today it feels so good to be a guest here. To find more of me, please visit my Blog "

A bedroom makeover is not a cheap process and it can feel like a daunting prospect, especially if you are working with a restricted budget, as most of us are these days! However, it is possible to revamp your room relatively cheaply, by just making one or two small changes. The best way to see the maximum benefit of such a change is to use your bed as your palette, the background against which you set your entire décor theme.

1. Have options!

Choose two or three highly contrasted themes for your bedroom’s décor, and make the major differences in those themes work around your bedding. In this way you can simply change your bed-clothes and have the entire look and feel of the bedroom change to an alternative theme. This theme can then be highlighted and enhanced with other small accessories, such as tiebacks, a vase of flowers or even a careful choice of bedside table ornament.

2. Texture adds Interest

Textured bedding adds a depth of greater interest to any décor theme, highlighting certain colours choices and drawing the eye towards the fabric. Even if you are not fond of textured fabrics such as chenille, candlewick and brocade, why not purchase just one set of textured bedding and try it out the next time you feel like a change? You may be pleasantly surprised by the result!

3. Appealing Throws and Cushions
Add throws and cushions to your bed for some welcoming charm and appeal. There is something about lots of pillows and cushions on a bed that makes it seem very inviting, while warm and snuggly throws positively invite you to lie down cosily for a short while.

4. Out with the Old!
Refresh your bedding often, brutally throwing away any old, faded or torn bedding. There is nothing more uncomfortable that scratchy old bed linen, especially when it is dotted about with worn patches and holes – and it does not look very good either!

5. Quality of Bedspread Tells
Always choose the best quality bedding that you can afford. Good quality fabrics last much longer and stay in better condition than cheaper fabrics, and will actually be a more economical purchase in the long run. Apart from this, better quality fabrics hold on to their colours and add a subtle but noticeable air of luxury to every bedroom. Because I never compromise on quality, I always go for Yorkshire Linen Co. for nice bedspreads.

6. Match To Décor
Choose bedding that goes very well with the furniture and décor scheme that you have in mind for your bedroom. Make sure that your preferred bedding will work well with the furniture and accessories that you have chosen for your room. If they do not work together the room will look scrappy and poorly planned.

7. Light It Up
Make sure your bedding is beautifully offset by your bedroom’s lighting. Choose soft lights that illuminate, rather than hard lights that dazzle and glare and the entire room will instantly look more welcoming and inviting.

8. Accessorize
Team a certain set of bedding with a set number of accessories. These can include pot plants, flower vases, colourful ornaments and even pieces of art. Having these small items to use in conjunction with that particular set of bedding can go a long way to creating the perfect décor scheme for your room, one that is easily changed for another, equally attractive and ridiculously easy to achieve! My utmost favorite for getting bedroom accessories is Aspace.

9. Make it you!
This is perhaps the most important feature of bedroom makeovers! If your bedroom does not appeal to you in every way, you will not feel comfortable or safe in there. Choose colours and accessories that appeal to you and this certainly applies to bedding too – after all, you will be wrapping that bedding around yourself at a time of the day when you are at your most vulnerable. If you are not comfortable in your bedroom, no-one else can be…

  18. Great tips! I've been working to transform my bedroom from the catch-all room to a master bedroom retreat. Right now I'm stuck on the bedding and curtains. I know how I want it to feel, just can't seem to find the perfect bed covering. Thanks for sharing your inspiration at Family Fun Friday.
