Wordless Wednesday - Skating on Plastic

Yep, they are skating on plastic. Every year the city installs this little rink in the downtown area. My girls and I love taking advantage of the free skating. They actually stayed on their feet more than the last time they went.

Sorry. I don't skate. I help put the skates on and off then I get to watch go with huge smiles on their faces. They don't stop grinning ear to ear until it's time to go home.

A No Sew Long Sleeve T-Shirt Transformation

I'm so weird sometimes. I worked on this no sew sleeve transformation months ago then forgot about it. I found the pictures already transferred into a file on my computer called no sew sleeves. And I was like - oh yah. That's what I`ll post this week.

A No Sew Long Sleeve T-Shirt Transformation
Easy right? I don't know. I just had a hard time figuring out what to call this. What would be the best title to grab attention and best describe what I made.

First was it a DIY.  A refashion, transformation or reconstruction. No not a reconstruction. What about upcycle. Is this just a t-shirt or is it a long sleeve T.

I know. I was over thinking it. I don't usually do that. Most times I find it pretty simple to title a blog post. I just call it  what it is. Plain and simple.

So here is my DIY No Sew Long Sleeve T-shirt Transformation/Reconstruction/ Upcycled Project.

First you'll need a long sleeve t-shirt. Or I guess you could also use a pair of yoga pants - any type of garment that won't fray when you cut it.

I folded the sleeve- errr. What am I doing?

Here are a few pictures showing you how to do the sleeves. But if you want detailed instructions hop on over to a previous post HERE. No need to write it up twice eh?

A No Sew Long Sleeve T-Shirt Transformation

Well there you have it. Pretty simple to do and awesome results. My beautiful daughter loves her shirt. One of her friends likes his pants done this way all the way up the outside edge of his pants.

These pictures were taken in the early fall of last year. This t-shirt is in storage because it is way too small for her now. Her huge belly won't fit because she is 32 weeks into her pregnancy.

A No Sew Long Sleeve T-Shirt TransformationThat's right. I have a new grandson on his way. I can't wait to hug him and kiss him and play with him and love him.... Who knew I would love being a Grandma just as much as being a Mom. My little angels are what life is all about.

Another post done. And hopefully some inspiration for you to make your own
DIY No Sew Long Sleeve T-shirt Transformation/ Reconstruction/ Upcycled Project.

If not, perhaps you are motivated to harass those kids of yours to hurry up and give you some grandbabies (or look forward to your children being old enough to do it.)

I love to read your opinions and comments. It makes my day.

Bye for now.

Oval Rag Rug - Lickety Split

Hi. So glad your here to check out my latest project. How do you like the title. Weird word eh? Lickety. I can't remember when I actually said it out loud. How bizarre.

Anyhow. I made this beautiful red crocheted rag rug for my daughter Cole. I always thought purple was her favorite color but I guess when it comes to home decor red is it. I love red so that's why I called this rug gorgeous.

crocheted oval rag rug.Isn't Penelope cute? She is a recent addition to Cole's little family.

If you are interested, this is my daughter's blog HERE. Yah she looks like her Dad.

Actually Cole has been waiting patiently for this rug for a very long time. I had the material about a year ago and it just sat in my closet waiting for me to rip it up.

crocheted oval rag rug.Sometimes the fibers from material play havoc on my sinuses and I end up with a severe headache. I know I could cut it with scissors and avoid the whole pain thing but I love how a rag rug looks with all those strands mussing it up.

As with most things, once I started ripping it didn't take long to get it done. Especially with the help of my adorable granddaughter.

I used a cotton blend queen size duvet cover to make this rug. It ended up being the perfect size to make a 24" x 36" oval rug. Perfect. Just what Cole wanted.

crocheted round rag rug.I somehow forgot to get pictures of this project so I asked Cole to send me a couple. Good thing too or else you'd never get to meet Penelope.

Cole says she loves it and her new rag rug already has a home in her kitchen in front of the sink. It's great for those tootsies - squishy and warm.

Crocheted Granny Square BlanketOh I almost forgot to tell you. I am so forgetful these days. I used a great big thick crochet hook for this project. You can find more details on how to make a rag rug right HERE.

I wanted to show you the blanket I made for Cole. Isn't it gorgeous? Red. I love it. If you want to know how to make it follow the link HERE.

Oh my gosh. I am so happy right now. Megin from VMG206 has featured my rag rug!

And I am super excited to have my rug featured at Crafting Along. Thanks Maz.

Women's Slippers - Free Crochet Pattern

Let me think. How many slippers have I made to fill my family's Christmas order?  Yes I know. It's just that I have been so busy drawing for my Etsy Shop that I haven't had much time for crocheting.

I did manage to complete another pair of women's slippers and I even wrote the crochet pattern for you.

Women's Slippers - Free Crochet Pattern

Materials
·
1 skein of yarn (364 yards) for the main color; yarn weight: worsted 10 ply (medium 4).
Small amount of yarn in second color.
5 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle to sew in the ends
Scissors

Pattern

Starting at the Toe
Row 1 – CH 1 and 8 HDC in the first chain from the hook. Join with a SS.
Row 2 – CH 1 and 2 HDC in each stitch around (16 stitches). Join with a SS.
Row 3 – CH 1 and 2 HDC in the next stitch and 1 HDC in the next stitch. Continue with 2 DC in the next stitch and DC in the next until you reach the end (24 stitches). Join with a SS.
Women's Slippers - Free Crochet PatternRow 4 thru Row 8 – CH 1 and HDC in each stitch around. Join with a SS. Tie off.
* This pattern will fit a foot size of about 7 or 8. You can make the slippers larger by simply adding rows at this point. Each row equals approximately a half size. So, for a size 9, add two rows.

Fold the slipper in half, using the seam created when joining the rows with a SS. This will be the bottom of the slipper.
Join the yarn two stitches in. This leaves a total of 4 stitches on the top that aren’t worked.

Women's Slippers - Free Crochet PatternRow 9 – CH 1 and HDC in the next 19 stitches. CH 1 and turn.
Row 10 to Row 17 – HDC in each stitch across. CH 1 and turn.
* This pattern will fit a foot size of about 6 or 7. You can make the slippers larger by simply adding rows at this point. I believe each row will equal about a half size. So, for a size 8, add two rows.
Row 18 – HDC in each stitch across. Tie off.

Back of Heel
Using a tapestry needle, sew the back heel of the slipper together with the long end of yarn. Just weave the yarn through and tie off at the bottom. Weave in the extra yarn on the bottom of the slipper with the tapestry needle.

Women's Slippers - Free Crochet PatternRow 19 – Join second color at back of heel. You are now working along the top edge of the slipper. CH 1, 31 SC all the way around the top edge (32 SC in total around top edge). Join with a SS.
Row 20 to Row 24 – CH 1 and SC in the next 31 stitches. Join with a SS.
Row 25 to Row 32 – CH 2 and HDC in the next 31 stitches. Join with a SS.
Row 33 – CH 2 and HDC in the next 31 stitches. Join with a SS. Tie off and weave tail into slipper.
