Super Yummy Chocolate Cake With Cherry Filling

I don't remember the first time I made this cake but I know it was an instant hit with my family.

I've been craving this super yummy chocolate cake with cherry pie filling for quite some time so I finally got around to picking up the ingredients.

I also thought it would be nice to do some baking with Honey Bunny and Baby Cakes.

So here is our super yummy and super easy chocolate cake with cherry filling.

Here is the list of items we used:

Sorry to disappoint you purists out there but I want quick and easy. As it is we didn't complete it all in one night.

I had a hard time getting pictures because the girls kept me busy reffing their squabbles about who gets to do what. Plus my camera was not cooperating.

I tried to make it fair by splitting the fun stuff evenly but when you have two little girls about the same age who like all the same things, it's kinda hard.

The first night we mixed and baked the two layers of cake.

It was getting late by the time we took the cake out of the oven so we, I mean I, decided to wait til the next evening to finish.

There was a bit of moaning from the girls but I explained by waiting we could take our time and thoroughly enjoy assembling and eating our cake.

Oh, and only if they got straight to bed and to sleep quickly. That worked.

Day two was messy fun. The girls enjoyed placing the cherry pie filling on the first layer of cake. Taking turns of course. Then the frosting.

What a mess of cherry goop and chocolate. All over the table, chairs and girls.

It all turned out good. We had fun.

Our cake was a bit lopsided and the cherries kept sliding down. But that's okay because it was super yummy.

That poor cake didn't stand a chance.

My daughter Nicole and son-in-law, Nick were eye balling the cake mix for days waiting impatiently to get their hands on the finished product.

There were two girls, three adults and one cake in the apartment at seven pm. By eight all that was left of our cake was some chocolate on two little faces and some very full bellies.

And these pictures of course.

  6. It sounds delicious and I am with you sometimes you just have to go the easy route so I am not opposed to cake mixes and canned frosting. What makes the difference as long as it is yum!
