Crocheted Tea Towel Topper

Image
Hi everyone, I'm Darlene and I am so happy you decided to join me. Today I am sharing my latest crochet project - crocheted tea towel holders. They have been on my list for quite some time and I finally got around to doing it. I had an idea of what I wanted but it sorta came together once I had the yarn and crochet hook in my hands. I knew I wanted a ring to hold the towel. My first thought was shower curtain rings but I didn't have any extras just laying around the house and I didn't want to purchase them. Thinking, thinking, thinking. Then I had a light bulb moment. Don't you just love those? Bracelets. They are the perfect size and they come in all kinds of colors and styles. I was absolutely delighted to find a set of bracelets at the dollar store. They were perfect and so pretty. I made this first tea towel holder with the jade bracelet for my daughter who loves green. I started with single crochet then changed to the star pattern for the front...

Oval Rag Rug - Lickety Split

Image
Hi. So glad your here to check out my latest project. How do you like the title. Weird word eh? Lickety. I can't remember when I actually said it out loud. How bizarre. Anyhow. I made this beautiful red crocheted rag rug for my daughter Cole. I always thought purple was her favorite color but I guess when it comes to home decor red is it. I love red so that's why I called this rug gorgeous. Isn't Penelope cute? She is a recent addition to Cole's little family.  If you are interested, this is my daughter's blog HERE . Yah she looks like her Dad. Actually Cole has been waiting patiently for this rug for a very long time. I had the material about a year ago and it just sat in my closet waiting for me to rip it up. Sometimes the fibers from material play havoc on my sinuses and I end up with a severe headache. I know I could cut it with scissors and avoid the whole pain thing but I love how a rag rug looks with all those strands mussing it up. As wi...

Upcycle (Crochet) Your Dollar Store Hat

Image
See this little cutie in the picture below? Like every year, I bought her a new winter coat. Isn't it wonderful to be a kid? They grow like weeds and get a whole new wardrobe for each season. I found the coat at a second hand store. It was like brand new and only cost about eight dollars. Isn't that amazing?  Unfortunately her hat from last year did not match the new coat. I got super lucky and found a simple black hat that would match perfectly.I found it at the dollar store. The hat fit my Honey Bunny good but it was a little thin and boring. I immediately knew what to do. I would crochet onto the original hat to make it warmer and more interesting. Take a look at the picture directly below. See the hat was just a plain simple toque with no brim. Starting with my size 5 hook, I single crocheted all around the edge of the hat. I was surprised how easy my hook went through both layers. When I got to the end I slip stitched into the first sc. Chaine...

Women's Crocheted Boot Slippers

Image
A few weeks ago I collected a few slipper patterns for the whole family. You can find that post HERE .  I was supposed to make at least five pairs.  How did I do? Not good.  I managed to complete three pairs. The first pair was for my granddaughter. You can see it HERE . The second set of slippers was made for one of my daughters. She wanted black boot slippers.  I had a really hard time finding a free boot slipper pattern so I made my own. To make these awesome boot slippers, you need to know how to crochet a double crochet, a single crochet and a bobble stitch. My daughter absolutely loves her slippers and wants more.  Silly girl. I have several other projects to finish before I can get back to making something for her. If she's lucky she might get a pair next winter. LOL.  POST A COMMENT I love to read your opinions and comments. It makes my day.  Bye for now.  Wishing you the best, Darlene My apologi...

Quick and Easy Crocheted Slippers

Image
Hi again. Do you remember last week's post? I shared ten free crocheted slipper patterns for the whole family . Well I already finished a pair and I'm kinda excited to share it with you. This first pair of slippers is for my granddaughter, Honey Bunny. She knew exactly what she wanted. As far as color is concerned anyway. They had to be her favorite color of blue and she wanted a great big bright red flower on the top of her foot with matching trim. And so ta da, she got what she asked for.  So much for a Christmas surprise. Or gift. Cause I already gave it to her. I'm not good at that whole don't open til Christmas thing. Any how here are the slippers. I was inspired by the Starlight Women's Slippers by My Hobby is Crochet. She has patterns for women's and tot sizes. This pair is for an eight year old so I had to make a couple of adjustments. I started with the women's pattern for the slipper width and I made it long enough for Honey Bunny...

Crocheted Slippers for the Whole Family - 10 Patterns to Choose From

Image
Well hello there. Have you been thinking about Christmas yet? I have and I decided to make slippers for my daughters and grandchildren. That is a total of eight pairs.  I've made slippers for my daughters before. Oh my gosh it's been about ten years. Anyway, they were pretty simple and all the same pattern but done in their favorite colors. Those slippers are long gone and it's time to make some new ones. I already have an idea of what the slippers will look like. In fact I have completed one set already. Which I will share with you next week. But for now I am going to share crocheted slipper patterns for the whole family. These blue slippers are so adorable. They would look fantastic on my grandson's little feet. I know these converse slippers were made for a boy but I have a granddaughter who would  love these in purple. I have a grandchild on her way but she won't make it here before Christmas.  In fact she is due sometime in April. I ...
