Hats are great little crochet projects you can take with you everywhere. They are quick and easy to make and lots of fun. And you can finish a hat in just a few hours which always gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
I started with a simple hat pattern and once I realized I could change it up I made more hats experimenting with different embellishments. The possibilities are infinite. Needless to say, I made quite a few hats last summer.
I think it is fantastic that you can take one pattern and create many looks. Check it out.

One Pattern, Many Looks - Crocheted Hats
This is the first style that I made. It's quite straight forward. You can find the pattern for it right HERE. It looks very pretty just as it is.
Then I figured out how to make crocheted flowers. Everyone loved them so much, the next batch of hats all had flowers. I like the look of one simple flower in the same color as the hat.
Of course my granddaughters wanted something with more color. This third look is fantastic with the contrasting dark red flower on the baby blue hat.
This hat with the white band and matching flower is basically the same pattern as the previous hats. You start out the same but you stop the pattern stitches and make two rows of dc then finish off with a row of sc in the main color.
This hat is a slight variation from the previous hat. The band can be made with one row of sc in a coordinating color, two rows of dc in the main color then finished off with on row of sc in the coordinating color.
What else can be done with this hat? Maybe add leaves? or More flowers? Perhaps multi-colored yarn? I know, ribbon with a bow!

ReplyDeleteHi Jenny. These hats are probably one of the most basic hat patterns. You should give it a try. You will be amaze at how easy they are to make.
DeleteI love making hats while sitting in the car while driving on car trips. Luckily I have 2 teen daughters and lots of friends and family to share with.
